The challenge

A nationwide healthcare-services company with 3,000 employees faced a crisis no job posting could solve. The US was in the grip of the worst clinician talent shortage in a generation, and the specialized clinicians this company needed most were in the shortest supply. Job boards weren’t producing qualified candidates, and every competitor was fishing the same shrinking pool with the same bait. The Chief Clinical Officer was posting about twice a month with minimal traction — no strategy, no consistent voice, and no connection between executive visibility and the company’s most urgent need: hiring.

What we did

Over a three-year engagement we turned that LinkedIn presence from an afterthought into the company’s most powerful recruiting asset. We took the CCO from 2 posts a month to 14 — a 619% increase, more than 500 original posts — because consistency builds familiarity with clinicians weighing their next move. Crucially, we led with the leader, not the listing: the highest-performing content wasn’t “we’re hiring,” it was personal leadership stories — why this executive got into healthcare, what they believe about clinical care, the kind of organization they’re building. Company-promotional content, the default for most healthcare executives, consistently performed worst.

The results

Over the engagement the company grew from 3,000 employees to more than 3,800 — a 26% increase in headcount during the most competitive hiring environment healthcare has seen. Engagement more than doubled, and personal leadership content drove twice the engagement of company-promotional posts. The executive never had to ask anyone to apply; clinicians saw a leader they wanted to work for. LinkedIn didn’t replace the recruiting function — it gave the company something job boards and recruiters couldn’t: a credible leader telling a human story that reached the exact professionals they needed to hire.

People don’t follow job listings. They follow leaders.
